Well, that’s it! I am back in Yuma. After Sandra and I arrived, I got her on the Amtrak train headed for Deming, NM where she will be back in her own rig. I had a great time and I got to see a lot of country. The Pacific Northwest is certainly one of the most beautiful parts of this country. I went to lunch with a group of ladies from the Foothills Singles Club and went out for dinner and drinks last evening with the gang. It’s nice to see my old friends and meet the new ones. I won’t be posting any more until next summer. I’ll be spending the winter deciding where my next adventure will be. If any of you get to Yuma, please look me up.
We have spent a week at a WIN Rally in Junction City, Or. It has been non=stop activities and lots of free meals and entertainment. First we visited an old sawmill that is still in operation. They only cut wood that is already sold for certain projects. They don’t cut the gazillion 2 X 4’s that go to Home Depot and places like that. Since they do it the old fashion way, they don’t use computerized equipment.
The second trip we took was the Dunes National Recreation Area. We were loaded into 2 large dune buggies and given a tour of the area.
Next we went to a Carousel Museum in Albany. The entire community is working to create a replica of an old carousel.
We have taken a bus tour to see the covered bridges in Cottage Grove, Or. We also stopped at 2 wineries. You haven’t lived until you’ve ridden back to town wit a bunch of senior citizens who have been at a winery.
We are finishing up a great week in Waldport, Or. We went to the Hatfield Marine Science Center and Oregon Coast Aquarium. We also stopped for lunch in a most unique pub and brewery.
We traveled south from Waldport to Sandra’s old stomping ground around Yahatz, Or. We visited the sea lion caves and some of the dramatic coastline around Cape Perpetua.
We leave soon for a 9-day Rally at Junction City, then we will be meandering back to Yuma.
